In
Cadiz you can find as good a range of traditional bars and restaurants
providing tapas, economical daily menus and great restaurants,
as any wear in the province and often cheaper than other seaside
towns. However, Cadiz also has it's ever increasing selection
of contemporary bars and restaurants that wouldn't look out of
place in any major capital. These provide new twists on traditional
themes as well as providing food for more adventurous palettes.
Wandering
the streets you will come across wonderful delicatessens, bodegas
offering the local sherries, tempting pastries and a couple of
great Vintners.
These
are some suggestions with a link to more information, or direct
to the establishments own site.
Traditional:
Ventriloquism
del Chato - Gastronomic delight, same group as El Faro, menus
on the sites. Locatedby the beach on the strip of land that joins
Cadiz to the main land.
El
Faro - One of the most famous old style restaurants in Cadiz
located in the popular Viña Barrio. Personally I prefer
the tapas at the bar.
Modern:
El
Balandro - Very stylish, horseshoe
tapas bar and restaurant.
Sopranis - Close to the cathedral and town hall, quite new, minimalist
interior, tapas section at the front, restaurant at the back.
El Veedor - The modern style of the interior reflects a some different
dishes. tapas and the front and a restaurant at the back. they
also own the more traditional bar opposite, with hams on sale.
Tapas Show
- Wide range of tapas, original two floors site on the paseo maritimo
overlooking the beach and now on the next street from the apartment.
Artistic presentation, reasonable value and quite casual.
For
those who enjoy cooking the local market that has just been cleverly
restored combining new with old and offers some of the best fresh
ingredients in europe.
